Coming Back

It would be a dramatic understatement to say that I have loved my time in Liberia.

I’ve loved getting to know and learning about a new culture, experiencing a different way of living, growing closer to God, and being able to meet people I now consider family.

While Liberia moves at a slower pace, I’ve found it very exciting. Nothing is right-here-right-now, but everything is filled with energy. I treasure the chance I’ve had to live in another country and experience everyday tasks in a new way–from washing clothes, doing dishes, and living in a communal setting.

I’ve been transformed by living in a place so centered around faith: from daily prayers, church services throughout each week, and constantly being surrounded by people who share my faith. I have grown closer with God and have learned to exercise my faith everyday.

The people I have met here are nothing short of amazing. I have loved the casual conversations about school, the mission, foods, life, and so much more. I will forever cherish the many new experiences I’ve had with the people here—being at the piggery, cooking, tutoring, and all the memories and friends I have made.

I go home in about a week—December 4th—so saying goodbye is going to be hard but my time here has been amazing.

BUT…I am very excited to say that I will only be away from Liberia for about a month because I decided to come back for an additional three months next year. I will come back early January (around the 10th) and stay until early April. While I am here next year I will be taking online classes through a community college in Colorado for some college credits.

I am very excited for what God has in store for me.
